RESIDENTIAL AIRPARKS

LIKE THE IDEA OF LIVING WITH YOUR AIRCRAFT?

Airparks are located in many places around the world and allow people to live close to an airfield and keep an aircraft in a hangar at their house, either as a separate building or integrated with their house. The aircraft has either direct taxiway access to the runway or, as would be the case at Kensington, has taxiway access through a security gate.

In carrying out research for the Kensington Parkside Airpark our master planners visited chosen successful airpark developments in the USA and inspected emerging airparks on the east coast of Australia. In the United States there over a hundred successfully operating airparks of varying amenity and scale. Some have operated for over 30 years.

There is no existing or proposed airpark in Australia as well placed or as attractive in flying and lifestyle terms as that proposed at Kensington. In fact there are relatively few operating or planned airparks in Australia at all. Australian airparks have been typically developed in rural or peripheral locations on private or remote air strips with few facilities or amenities nearby. Kensington Parkside Airpark at Bundaberg however, is located within a major regional city in a world class coastal region with ready access to the Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island, and only 150 nautical miles to Queensland's state capital, Brisbane. Pilots at Kensington Airpark will have ongoing access and use rights to the progressive and well-maintained Bundaberg Regional Airport.
